Fall Excitement

Fall is here, and it has brought many new and exciting experiences with it.  I am siting here with my jack-o-lantern mug full of steaming hot coffee, wearing my new tan sweater along with my dark brown scarf (sorry, I love fashion).  Oh, how fall brings some of my favorite colors to light, all earthy tones.  And that exhilarating chill in the air - it's so invigorating!  Each new season is always so full of life!  So many activities that are still fresh.

Fall has also brought some pretty amazing new things to my business!  There is so much news to tell!  Much of it you can come find out for yourself this weekend.  On Saturday, I will be at the Archbold Chili Cook Off.  I will be displaying much of my work for the very first time, and will be offering something special only to the people that come see me.  There are so many activities going on throughout the day - bike parade, music, cornhole, and chili tasting.  To see the schedule of events go to the Archbold Chamber of Commerce.  I am just so excited - cannot even express it fully into words!

Also, on Friday night you can support the Pettisville FFA by going to the Pettisville Pumpkin Festival and bidding on a photo session with me at the silent auction.  This is a great way to kick off the season!

There is much more news to come!  I cannot tell you how good it feels right now to be in the place that I am at!  I am so happy to be doing what I love - so thankful for all of your support!  Come see me this weekend!

Little Ashalyn

Babies are completely unpredictable. Every photo session with a baby is completely different, and I always try to go into it knowing this. Little Ashalyn, and I mean little, definitely wanted to challenge me. She was not too excited to have her picture taken. It took a couple tries, but we ended up getting some very precious images of her. Knowing how quickly babies grow and change, I think these images will be treasured for a lifetime. Enjoy!

Baby Ashalyn

What is better to brighten up a day than seeing a sweet newborn baby? I hope this brings some cheer to your day, and there will be much more of Ashalyn to come.

Nothing's Impossible

Yesterday, I went to visit my brothers, and I found them at the park playing with some neighbor kids. They had been running and playing so by the time I got there they were out of breath. I started watching Sam. He was standing at the bottom of the spiral slide - trying to roll a soccer ball up it, all the way to the top. I watched him try probably twenty times, each a failure in my eyes because it kept getting stuck at the first turn. But, he kept on trying - rolling it harder each time, then slower because it was bouncing back at him, then with a spin. Finally I said, "Just stop Sam, it is impossible." He looked at me, with complete seriousness and without hesitation said, "Nothing's impossible."

As I stood there in complete aw and realization, he continued to keep trying. I try so hard to be the sister that always says that they can do anything. I believe that everyone should go for their dreams, no matter what stage in life, because it would make them truly happy. I have told people multiple times to follow their heart, even when it would be easier not to. I have followed my own advice in that I have started my own photography business. It was not the easiest thing to do at the time and continues to not be easy. But, lately, I have been labeling things as impossible. I have been creating roadblocks for myself simply because it feels as if no matter how many times I try, the ball will just never reach the top. My brother reminding me yesterday of my own lesson. With those two words, he reminded me how I have achieved my dreams so far and how I will continue to do it each day, one at a time. Nothing's impossible.

Merry-Go-Round

As a photographer, I am willing to do anything to get the shot that I want. I get so excited about it that I don't always think things through the way I would normally. Recently, I have come close to getting hit by a truck. I have pulled a muscle in my leg climbing up on a bail of hay. I have also climbed on top of my parents' 12-passenger van - which didn't feel that stupid until I tried to get back down. I have slowly almost backed into a pond and into a pool. But I have never regretted doing anything as much as what I just recently attempted.

While taking photos of my brothers, I decided that it would be great if I took some images of them playing on the merry-go-round. Of course I had to climb aboard with one of the boys, while the other spun us as hard as he possibly could. I was completely caught up in the moment because I was so excited by the fun, playful shots I was getting of them. So caught up that I did not realize how sick I was getting until I pulled my camera away from my eye. In that instant, I knew it wasn't going to be good. I didn't lose my lunch, but I did have to take them home so that I could rest awhile before I photographed my other two brothers. I cannot say that I will never do this again, but I will definitely make sure it is at the end of the shoot.

Hopefully you can enjoy these images!

I get sick to my stomach just looking at them!

County Fair

I am so extremely lucky that I was introduced to Amy (C Studios). She has had a huge impact on my life in the past few years. Not only did she photograph my wedding, but she jump-started my business and has been there for me every step of the way. I am thankful to be able to call her my friend.

I was honored to have her photograph Trevor and I this past week at the Fulton County Fair. We all had such a great time together! I am grateful to have these precious images of us at this early time in our marriage. Thank you, Amy, for capturing our love.

Trevor

Trevor was the youngest child for a while, and better yet had two older sisters taking care of him constantly. I cannot count how many times we dressed him up as a girl - dress, hair, make-up, shoes and purse - the whole thing. But, for fear of my life, those pictures will not be seen here. I did find this photo though, and I just have to say he is so cute!

I love my brother, even if he did pee on all of our barbie dolls one afternoon. Let's just say we have plenty of stories when we all get together. Enjoy the images of him all grown up!

Jace

I have said it before, and I will say it again. I absolutely love photographing children because they do not know how to be anything but themselves. It is the ultimate to capture their pure and unaltered personalities. Jace's character shows in each of these images. From being silly to serious, content to curious, you get to see it all. Enjoy!
